Costantemente noi, o almeno io, abbiamo a che fare con quelli che sono sicuri riguardo qualcosa, di solito riguardo se stessi in generale. Ovviamente, questo permette loro di passare ogni giornata problematica con la sicurezza che il mondo, se non addirittura il cosmo, va come loro ben sanno. Milioni di articoli a stampa che si occupano di nuovi concetti sulle questioni scientifiche e di noi stessi come individui e come gruppo, non li riguardano. Loro sanno, e questo è quanto!
Il punto cruciale, o il punto di divisione, di tutto ciò è che se loro comprendessero che nessuno sa un gran che -- alla luce di questi articoli pubblicati -- allora la posizione corretta sarebbe "dimmi di più". Solo chi è sicuro della consapevolezza duramente raggiunta, e di rado, di una condizione di parziale conoscenza / parziale ignoranza, può rilassarsi nella sicurezza di non sapere, e di conseguenza può imparare.
Per me la domanda è: Perché non possiamo accontentarci della nostra fin troppo ovvia inadeguatezza? Accettiamo che volpi, vacche, formiche, elefanti e così via non possano sapere tutto, allora perché non accettiamo il fatto che nemmeno noi possiamo?
Il rischio, o meglio, il fato di chi "sa" tutto è la disfatta che avviene quando inevitabilmente scopre che non sa. Potrei dire che l'avevo detto, e penso che lo farò.
